* Practical exam for certification offered at ACF National Convention
A practical exam for all levels of ACF certification (except CMC and CMPC) is scheduled for Tuesday, July 20, at the Orlando (Fla.) Culinary Academy/Le Cordon Bleu. The fee is $50 for members, $100 for non-members. Space is limited; availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. This award, formerly the Hermann G. Rusch Humanitarian Award, honors chefs who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to both ACF and the culinary profession. Such chefs, through their involvement with and contributions to ACF and our craft, have advanced the culinary profession and ensured the enrichment of students, our members and those in our profession. Each of these candidates is worthy to carry on the proud tradition of the chef for whom this award was named in 1993, Hermann G. Rusch, AAC (1907-1997). Each ACF chapter in good standing has one vote. Ballots are due at ACF headquarters by July 1. Ballots will be counted and results placed in a sealed envelope until the national convention in Orlando. Now through June 30, registered attendees of the 2004 ACF National Convention may reserve seats for the President's Grand Ball, Monday, July 19, by visiting ACF's Web site. Seats will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Avoid lines at registration and select the seating of your choice by reserving now! 1. Go to 'www.acfchefs.org' 2. Choose 'Events/2004 National Convention' from the main menu. 3. Click on 'Seating' on the convention menu. You must have your convention-registration confirmation number to reserve your seat. (This number is found in the upper-left corner of the confirmation form mailed to you after your convention application and payment have been processed.) All tickets purchased on a single confirmation will be assigned to the same table. To reserve group seating, gather the required confirmation numbers and designate one of your group to go online and register everyone at the same time. You can only register online once. Do not register online until you are sure of your seating preference and have communicated with all persons in your seating party. ACF's member-recruitment drive in 2004 enlists all members in the cause to "spread the good word" of the American Culinary Federation to the nation's 2 million professional cooks.
