Regional Conference is Jan. 31
"Columbus Celebrates Culinary Diversity" is the theme of the 2005 ACF
Northeastern Regional Conference, April 7-10 at the Columbus Marriott
North in Columbus, Ohio, hosted by the ACF Columbus Chapter. Through
Monday, Jan. 31, full registration is only $275 for active members, $150
for student members ($130 without gift), $175 for senior members, $350
for associate and allied members, and $375 for non-members. After Jan.
31, registration increases. (All registrations received by Jan. 31 will
earn an overnight travel bag as a gift from the chapter.) Simply
download the registration form from
www.acfchefs.org/events/Regional/2005/Northeast.html. Fax the completed
form to Sharon Pallas at (800) 238-1614 by Jan. 31 or mail to ACF
Columbus Chapter, P.O. Box 16130, Columbus, OH 43216-6130, postmarked by
Jan. 31.
The deadline to receive the special conference lodging rate for the 2005 ACF Southeastern Regional Conference at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, Roanoke, Va., is Feb. 7. Room rate is $115 (plus taxes), single or double occupancy. After Feb. 7, neither availability nor the special room rate is guaranteed. To make reservations, call (866) 594-4722.
The ACF certification practical exam will be offered at each of the upcoming regional conferences. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until spaces are filled. Contact ACF for information and/or to register, at (800) 624-9458, acf@acfchefs.net. If you are a registered practical examiner or examiner apprentice and are taking the exam to fulfill the requirements to become a practical-test examiner, the $50.00 registration fee is waived. Also, the two required practical-exam classes for practical-test examiners will be offered at each of the regional conferences. You do not need to pre-register to attend these classes.
The following individuals have been nominated for the regional awards that will culminate in one chef becoming the U.S.A.'s Chef of the YearTM for 2005. Each region will announce its Chef of the Year at the respective 2005 ACF conference beginning with the Western Regional Conference next month in Sacramento. Four regional Chefs of the Year will compete in a cook-off at the 2005 ACF National Convention in San Antonio, July 30-Aug. 3. The ACF's Chef of the Year Awards are sponsored by Unilever Foodsolutions.
Central Region
The following individuals have been nominated for the regional awards that will culminate in one chef receiving ACF's national Chef Professionalism Award for 2005. Each region will announce its Chef Professionalism Award recipient at the respective 2005 ACF regional conference. Four regional Chef Professionalism Award winners will vie for the national award, selected by special committee, at the 2005 ACF National Convention in San Antonio, July 30-Aug. 3. The ACF's Chef Professionalism Awards are sponsored by Minor's/Nestlé FoodServices.
Central Region
The following individuals have been nominated for the regional awards that will culminate in one chef becoming the ACF's national Pastry Chef of the Year for 2005. Each region will announce its Pastry Chef of the Year at the respective ACF regional conference this winter and spring. Four regional Pastry Chefs of the Year will compete in a cook-off at the 2005 ACF National Convention in San Antonio, July 30-Aug. 3.
To date, only 33 chapters have submitted ballots to name regional winners of the 2005 Hermann G. Rusch Chef's Achievement Award. Ballots were mailed from ACF headquarters to all chapters; completed ballots must be received by ACF by Feb. 11 (not merely postmarked by that date). All chapters in good standing receive one vote.
