ACF Culinary Team USA National and Regional Team Members Announced After a grueling tryout process, the new members of ACF Culinary Team USA were announced at the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show® in Chicago. Four members were named to ACF Culinary Team USA National Team, the official representative team of the United States in major international culinary competitions. Ten finalists were chosen for two ACF Culinary Team USA Regional Teams, often considered a training ground for future national team members. ACF congratulates the team members and wishes them much success as they prepare to represent the United States on the world culinary scene. Aidan Murphy Earns ACF Master Chef Certification After eight days of demonstrating a mastery of cooking techniques, Aidan Murphy, CMC, the executive chef of Old Warson Country Club in Ballwin, Mo., has become one of the elite few to earn the Certified Master Chef (CMC) designation. Murphy received the title after a successfully completing the program. He was judged by five fellow CMC's that included Brad Barnes, CMC, CCA, AAC; Victor Gielisse, CMC, CHE, AAC; Rudy Speckamp, CMC; Ron DeSantis, CMC, AAC; and Olivier Andreini, CMC. Murphy completed a series of exams that were administered in eight major segments:
healthy cooking, buffet catering, classical cuisine, freestyle cooking, global
cuisine, baking and pastry, continental cuisine/northern Europe and market basket.

Wharton Small Business Development Center to host Series at ACF National Convention The Wharton Small Business Development Center, a division of the University of Pennsylvania, will host a two-part series on small business development and entrepreneurial strategies for the twenty-first century on July 16 beginning at 8 a.m. during the ACF national convention in Philadelphia. Renowned business developer Jason Olim will be the key presenter for the seminars. Olim is a graduate of Brown University and has a degree in computer science.
He worked for two years at Soft-Switch, designing software systems for multinational
corporations. He later dreamed up CDNOW in February of 1994, and became a highly
recognized Internet entrepreneur. He has earned Entrepreneur of the Year awards
from various organizations, including the Small Business Association, Arthur Andersen
and the Greater Philadelphia Venture Group. Don't miss out, register today for

Federation of Dining Room Professionals Receives ACFF Educational Assurance Award The Federation of Dining Room Professionals (FDRP), headquartered in Fernandina Beach, Fla., received the Educational Assurance Award from the American Culinary Federation Foundation (ACFF) Educational Assurance Program. The program is designed to recognize non-degree granting culinary educational programs that offer quality education. FDRP received the award after being thoroughly tested under the ACFF Educational Assurance Program standards. The standards include an in-depth review of the applying program along with a site visit. In addition, participants who complete an approved ACFF Educational Assurance Program are awarded educational credit toward ACF certification. The FDRP offers educational materials and self-study programs that prepare and certify individuals in the techniques of proper service. The Federation offers a Service Certification Program that consists of multiple and progressive levels of certification.
