ACF Northeast Region Chefs Gather for Annual Conference in West
Virginia
St. Augustine, Fla., April 18,
2002—The American Culinary Federation’s (ACF’s)
Northeast Region members held their annual conference in Charleston,
W.Va., April 6–9, hosted by the ACF Greater West Virginia Chapter.
The following individuals, chapters, and companies were honored:
ACF Northeast Region Chef of the Year Award
Winner
John Kinsella, CMC, CCE, AAC
Cincinnati, Ohio
ACF Greater Cincinnati Chapter
Chef Kinsella, a chef instructor at Cincinnati State Technical and
Community College, is now a finalist for the 2002 ACF National Chef of
the Year award to be given in July at the ACF National Convention at the
MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
ACF Northeast Region Chef Professionalism Award
Winner
Thomas Vaccaro, CEPC
Margate City, N.J.
ACF Professional Chefs Association of South Jersey
Chef Vaccaro, executive pastry chef at Trump Plaza Resort & Casino
in Atlantic City, N.J., is now a finalist for the 2002 ACF National Chef
Professionalism award to be given in July at the ACF National Convention
in Las Vegas.
ACF Northeast Region Junior Member of the Year
Yvonne Westlake
Royersford, Pa.
ACF Philadelphia DVCA Chapter
Westlake, who is a line cook and tournant at The Desmond Hotel and
Conference Center in Malvern, Pa., is now a finalist for the 2002 ACF
National Junior Member of the Year award to be given in July at the ACF
National Convention in Las Vegas.
ACF Northeast Region Student Hot Food
Competition
The Restaurant School of Walnut Hill College took First Place.
Team members were: Jennifer Marker, captain; Hyo-Jung Chang; Amy Jaep;
William Polzin; Mark Tropea; and Scott Campbell, alternate. They will
compete in the ACF Student Team National Championship at the ACF
National Convention in July in Las Vegas.
ACF Northeast Region Baron H. Galand Knowledge
Bowl
1st Place: Columbus State Community College.
Team members were: David Eisel, captain; Hillary Fain; Raesue Kao;
Shannon Saunders; and Kurt Schumacher, alternate. They will travel to
Las Vegas to compete in the national competition.
2nd Place: Pennsylvania Culinary Institute
3rd Place: The Restaurant School of Walnut Hill College
4th Place: Hocking College
