Press Release
Cramb Named Executive Director of Operations for American Culinary
Federation
St. Augustine, Fla., February 15,
2007—John Kinsella, president of the American Culinary
Federation, Inc. (ACF) Board of Directors, has announced that Heidi
Cramb has been named executive director overseeing all operational
aspects of the ACF effective immediately.
Cramb was offered and accepted the position of executive director of
operations by the ACF’s Board of Directors following a unanimous
decision by the attending board of directors at an executive session
held earlier this week in Cincinnati. ACF began conducting a search for
a permanent managing director the end of last year.
“It became clearly evident that the candidate most qualified
for the position was Heidi, as she had already demonstrated exceptional
team-building leadership skills, in-depth membership knowledge and the
association experience necessary to successfully lead the ACF as
executive director,” said Kinsella. “Under her brief
leadership as interim managing director, the ACF increased in
membership, as well as program implementation and participation. Her
dedication to the ACF and its members, along with her understanding of
the culinary industry, will continue to solidify the ACF as the leading
educational authority for culinarians, and propel the ACF during this
time of growth.”
In November 2006, Cramb was named interim managing director of the
ACF from her previous position as membership director, which she held
since April 2005. While membership director, Cramb successfully
restructured the membership department, developed and implemented
effective strategic-marketing plans to increase membership and revenue
while decreasing expenditures, and directed the integration of a new
database across all ACF functions.
Cramb’s responsibilities as executive director of operations
are to serve as chief operating officer of the ACF and its two
subsidiaries—American Culinary Federation Foundation and the Chef
& Child Foundation. She will oversee all facets of the organization
from finance, education, certification and accreditation, to membership
development, event management, communications and IT.
Bringing with her 19 years of business experience, Cramb was formerly
director of marketing and membership for the National Military Family
Association in Alexandria, Va. During her tenure as director, she was
credited with establishing a membership department for a national
advocacy group, increasing membership by more than 20% in her first
year, exceeding budget projections, streamlining processes, and
enhancing member communications to support the association’s
business goals. Cramb's prior association experience also includes
serving as the political action committee manager for the National
Automobile Dealers Association in McLean, Va.
The American Culinary Federation, Inc., established in 1929, is the
premier professional organization for culinarians in America. With more
than 19,000 members spanning 240 chapters nationwide, ACF is the
culinary leader in offering educational resources, training,
apprenticeship and accreditation. In addition, ACF operates the only
comprehensive certification program for chefs in the U.S. ACF is home to
ACF Culinary Team USA, the official representative for the United States
in major international culinary competitions, and also holds the
presidium for the World Association of Chefs Societies, the largest
international network of chef associations with more than 8 million
members globally.
